In the modern era, where geopolitical and geoeconomic realities are rapidly changing across the Eurasian space, the Middle Corridor has become one of the main strategic routes of the global trade and transport system.
Sea-news.az reports that Arzu Naghiyev, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Defense, Security and Anti-Corruption, stated this.
The deputy noted that this corridor, which plays an important role in ensuring shorter, safer, and more sustainable logistics connections between Asia and Europe, makes a significant contribution to the expansion of international economic cooperation, the strengthening of energy security, and the consolidation of regional stability. Risks arising in traditional trade routes and problems in supply chains have further increased the strategic value of the route.
A. Naghiyev emphasized that thanks to the Baku International Sea Trade Port, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, modern highways, and digital customs systems, Azerbaijan has turned into the main support point and transit hub of the Middle Corridor. The strategic transport and logistics policy implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, while increasing our country’s role in global trade, serves the development of the non-oil sector and the creation of new jobs.
