“BAE Systems,” one of the world’s largest aerospace, defense, and information security companies, has signed a new large-scale defense contract with the British government.
Sea-news.az reports that the agreement, valued at 5.9 billion pounds sterling (approximately 7.8 billion dollars), provides for the modernization and continued construction of “Dreadnought” class next-generation nuclear submarines.
The new submarines will replace the aging “Vanguard” nuclear submarines of the UK Royal Navy, which are reaching the end of their operational service life, starting from the early 2030s. The agreement is an important component of the overall 8.4 billion pounds sterling defense funding package allocated by the United Kingdom to support its continuous at-sea nuclear deterrence system.
