The seventh phase of the “Let’s Learn to Swim” project, implemented jointly by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation, and the State Agency for Preschool and General Education, has concluded.
According to sea-news.az this phase of the project, which aims to promote swimming among children and teenagers and instill essential life-saving swimming skills, covered a wide geography and included thousands of schoolchildren.
The key statistical indicators for the 7th phase of the project are as follows:
Scope: A total of 3,000 students from 33 general education schools were enrolled in the program, which was organized at 25 modern sports facilities across the country. Of those enrolled, 1,927 students participated regularly in the training, and 40 have decided to continue their training on a subscription basis.
Gender Breakdown: Of the active participants, 1,441 (75%) were boys and 486 (25%) were girls.
Age and Grade Structure: A wide age group, from lower to upper grades, was represented in the project. The participants were divided by grade as follows: 1st grade (128 students), 2nd grade (128), 3rd grade (153), 4th grade (159), 5th grade (272), 6th grade (415), 7th grade (332), and 8th grade (340).
Regions where the training took place:
In addition to the capital, lessons were conducted by professional coaches at infrastructure facilities in the regions, including the “Kur” Olympic Training and Sports Center in Mingachevir, as well as at the Olympic Sports Complexes in Ganja, Aghjabadi, Shirvan, Shamkir, Lankaran, Gakh, Neftchala, Balakan, Sheki, Bilasuvar, Zagatala, Tartar, Beylagan, Ismayilli, Gazakh, Sumgayit, Goranboy, Tovuz, Saatli, Jalilabad, Gabala, Salyan, Gusar, and Guba.
At the end of the phase, a special tournament was organized for students to demonstrate the skills they had acquired. At the conclusion of the competition, the students who took the top three places were awarded diplomas, and all other active participants were presented with certificates confirming the successful completion of the project.
