Archaeologists in Egypt have uncovered a bronze signet ring dating back approximately 2,000 years among the submerged ruins of Alexandria on the Mediterranean seabed.

Sea-news.az reports that the ring is believed to depict the Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Hisham El-Leithy, Secretary-General of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, stated that a signet ring depicting the ancient lighthouse had never before been discovered by archaeologists.

Built in the 3rd century BC on the island of Pharos, the Lighthouse of Alexandria reached a height of 120 to 140 meters. The historic monument was completely destroyed by the 14th century following a series of severe earthquakes.
