The “Odyssey” cruise ship, embarked on a three-year round-the-world voyage, has halted its journey in Cambodia due to a sharp surge in fuel expenses.

Sea-news.az reports that citing the New York Post.

Approximately 200 passengers—including many who used the vessel as their permanent residence—were forced to disembark.

The publication notes that, according to “Villa Vie Residences,” monthly fuel costs per cabin in certain parts of Asia surged from $1,800 to between $6,000 and $8,000 amid the conflict in Iran. Although the operator attempted to mitigate losses by extending port stays and reducing sailing speeds, these measures proved insufficient. Passing the entire financial burden onto passengers was deemed unfeasible.

The vessel docked in Cambodia on October 23 and was originally scheduled to sail toward Vietnam, but remains anchored. No official statement has yet been issued regarding the crew’s next steps or future operations.
