A delegation led by Commander of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces, Rear Admiral Shahin Mammadov, visited the stand of Turkey’s “Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi” (MKE) company במסגרת the SAHA 2026 defense exhibition.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to MKE’s naval defense products, particularly the PİRANA kamikaze unmanned surface vehicle (USV).

Guests were also provided with detailed information about “Makine Kimya Azerbaijan” (MKA), MKE’s representative office in Azerbaijan.

According to the information presented, PİRANA is a kamikaze unmanned surface vehicle developed for asymmetric warfare scenarios based on the “Effective–Simple–Low-Cost” concept. The system can operate both individually and in swarm formations.

Under this concept, some PİRANA units are used to attract the attention of enemy radar and defense systems, while another low radar-signature unit approaches undetected and destroys the target using its onboard warhead.

PİRANA can be remotely controlled via radio frequency (RF) and satellite communication (SATCOM), or operate fully autonomously. Its satellite-based control system allows uninterrupted operation from thousands of kilometers away.

Capable of speeds exceeding 40 knots and featuring high maneuverability, PİRANA carries a 100-kilogram warhead and has an operational range of more than 200 nautical miles. These capabilities enable the system to conduct fast and effective operations over long distances.
