Tehran is preparing to require vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to submit advance information before passage.
According to CNN, a “Vessel Information Declaration” prepared by Iran’s newly established Gulf Straits Administration will become mandatory for ships carrying out transit passage through the strait.
Under the new requirement, vessels must provide information in advance regarding the ship itself, its owner, operator, crew members, and cargo.
The submission of information via email is recommended.
So far, no official statement has been made regarding the introduction of any transit fees or charges for passage through the strait.
