The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has stated that on May 7, U.S. Navy destroyers transiting from the Strait of Hormuz into the Gulf of Oman came under attack by Iranian forces.

According to the statement, the guided-missile destroyers “USS Truxtun” (DDG 103), “USS Rafael Peralta” (DDG 115), and “USS Mason” (DDG 87) were targeted while operating along an international maritime route. The attack reportedly involved missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and small high-speed boats.

CENTCOM said U.S. forces responded in self-defense and successfully neutralized all incoming threats. It added that no U.S. military assets were damaged in the incident.

“The U.S. Central Command eliminated incoming threats and engaged Iranian military assets involved in the attack. CENTCOM is not seeking escalation but is strengthening its posture and remains prepared to protect American forces,” the statement said.
