The “Let’s cross the Kura?! 5” open water swimming competition, held on the banks of the Kura River in Mingachevir, has given the start to the 1,000-meter swimming race.
Sea-news.az reports that 111 athletes are competing in the 1,000-meter race.
It should be noted that the competition, which is being held for the fifth time, is co-organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation, and the Baku City Circuit Operations Company.
Held with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle and water sports, the competition has brought together a record number of participants this year. Out of a total of 616 participants, the youngest is 12 years old and the oldest is 79.
The competition is held for men and women across 6 age categories: 12-17 years, 18-23 years, 24-35 years, 36-55 years, 56-70 years, and 71 years and above.
Participants who take the first three places in each category among men and women across the 6 age categories will be awarded.
