A captains professionalism is not limited to the safe operation of the vessel. Every decision they make can affect the safety of the ship, the efficiency of the voyage, and the shipowner’s revenue.
According to sea-news.az that Ahmet Cagrı, a ship broker for “GN Group Corporation,” said these words at the “Safe Passage 2026” forum held in Baku.
He noted that the main goal is to carry out a successful voyage without delays, disputes, and financial losses: “A captain’s job is not just to steer the ship. Every decision made on board can have both financial and legal consequences. Therefore, a captain must also know the commercial side of their decisions. Another important issue is the notice of readiness. The correct and timely submission of this document is very crucial, because the time of its submission affects the commencement of the time allowed for loading or discharging.”
