The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has issued an appeal to the public regarding the expected unstable weather conditions.
According to sea-news.az citing the MES press service, that according to the National Hydrometeorological Service, intensive rainfall is expected in various areas in the coming days, with potential flash floods in some mountain rivers, lightning, and intermittent strong winds. In view of this, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds the public of the necessary safety protocols.
“To protect against flash floods caused by intensive precipitation, it is recommended to stay away from flood-prone areas and, if faced with such a danger, to immediately move to higher ground. Furthermore, considering that people flock to beaches for recreation during the summer season, we remind you that entering the sea in windy weather is dangerous. Small vessel operators must also keep in mind that going out to sea under such weather conditions is prohibited,” the statement says.
Additionally, during strong winds, it is advised to stay away from light structures and temporary buildings, billboards, and signage, and to avoid standing under power poles, wires, or tall trees. Given the challenges strong winds pose to firefighting efforts, fire safety rules must be strictly observed in windy weather.
To protect against risks associated with lightning, it is necessary to disconnect electrical appliances from the power grid and refrain from using phones (landline, mobile, etc.). While outdoors, one should not approach power lines, lightning rods, gutters, or antennas, nor seek shelter under tall trees; instead, one should choose relatively low-lying areas. When in a vehicle, it is recommended to stop, keep the windows up, and wait for the lightning to pass.
