Concerns have been raised in the Zira settlement of the Khazar district, where seawater in an area frequently used by residents as a beach has turned a dark brown, mud-like color.

According to sea-news.az citing Oxu.Az, that footage shows a large section of the water along the coastline has turned brown.

Residents state they are worried because they do not know what substances are in the water.

Regarding the issue, the State Service for Environmental Protection and Water Usage under the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency stated that their employees have inspected the area.

According to the agency, samples have been collected from the water and submitted to the Central Laboratory operating under the Service.

“Currently, laboratory analyses of the samples are being conducted, and detailed information will be provided to the public once the results are obtained. At the same time, we would like to state that during the initial investigation, no discharge directed into the Caspian Sea from that area was observed,” the statement noted.
