More than 300 people have been questioned in the ongoing investigation into the criminal case regarding the death of Kazakhstani servicemen in the Caspian Sea in late September.
Sea-news.az reports citing Kazakhstani media that this was stated in a report by the country’s Prosecutor General’s Office. “A complex set of investigative actions aimed at thoroughly and objectively establishing all circumstances of the tragedy has been carried out. To date, over 300 people have been questioned, and more than 30 forensic examinations and studies have been conducted,” the report noted. It should be recalled that the tragedy occurred on September 24 during a combat training mission in the Caspian Sea.
As a result of a sharp deterioration in weather conditions, servicemen were swept away by currents, leaving 14 dead. In connection with this, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared national mourning and established a commission to conduct a comprehensive audit in the country’s Ministry of Defense.
