On July 3, 2026, a meeting was held at the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy (ASMA) with Professor Olena Tymoshchuk, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Director of the Kyiv Institute of Water Transport (named after Hetman Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachny), representing Ukraine’s National Transport University.
According to sea-news.az that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy and Ukraine’s National Transport University during the meeting. The document was signed by Eldar Gojayev, Acting Rector of ASMA, and Professor Olena Tymoshchuk, on behalf of Professor Oleksandr Gryshuk, Rector of the National Transport University.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of higher education in the maritime and water transport sectors, the expansion of scientific cooperation, the strengthening of international academic ties, and future directions for joint activities.
The signed Memorandum serves to develop a long-term partnership between the two higher education institutions. According to the document, the parties will cooperate in areas such as student exchange programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, the organization of exchange visits for faculty and administrative staff, the implementation of joint research activities, participation in seminars, conferences, and other academic events, the exchange of scientific and educational materials, as well as the development of short-term educational programs and projects.
It was noted during the meeting that the signed Memorandum will make a significant contribution to the further development of cooperation in higher education and science between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, the expansion of international experience exchange in maritime education, and the strengthening of the international relations of both institutions.
The parties reached an agreement to prepare a concrete action plan and implement joint academic initiatives in the near future within the framework of the Memorandum’s implementation.
