During January–May 2026, the volume of dry cargo handled at the Port of Baku reached 950,203 tons, representing a 77% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to sea-news.az the majority of the cargo consisted of sulfur and urea transported in transit from Turkmenistan through Azerbaijan. At the same time, the Port of Baku has played an increasingly important role in the shipment of copper, zinc, and other non-ferrous metal products exported from Kazakhstan.
Considering current market trends and the transportation plans of cargo owners, industry observers expect the positive growth in dry cargo volumes to continue in the coming months.
Experts note that the rising cargo throughput further strengthens the Port of Baku’s position as a key transportation and logistics hub in the region.
