Rotterdam-based Dutch company Wattlab has introduced “Westack,” a standardized battery system designed for vessels operating on inland waterways.

According to sea-news.az the pre-assembled and pre-tested system can be installed on board a vessel in just one working day. Compared with conventional marine battery systems, this reduces installation time from several weeks to a single day.

The company states that Westack can reduce generator operating hours by 80–90%, helping to lower fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and carbon emissions. The system also minimizes noise, vibration, and exhaust emissions, creating a more comfortable working environment for crew members.

Available in capacities ranging from 100 kWh to 400 kWh, the battery system can be installed on both newly built vessels and ships undergoing modernization.
