Speaking at a panel session, Ukraines Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal stated that Azerbaijan has made a significant contribution to maintaining the resilience of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
“Azerbaijan made an important contribution to ensuring the country’s energy stability, especially last winter. Our Azerbaijani friends provided generators, transformers, cable products, and other critical equipment. This support helped us get through the winter and is now assisting us in preparing for the next one,” he emphasized.
The minister noted that during the full-scale war, Azerbaijan has delivered a total of 11 energy support packages to Ukraine. He stressed the importance of implementing new approaches to strengthen the resilience of modern energy systems.
He also highlighted that Ukraines experience of resilience and digitalization gained during the war is now being transformed into practical solutions and shared with partner countries.
“First and foremost, priority should be given to protecting not individual facilities but the functions of energy systems. In addition, defense mechanisms must be directly integrated into the energy system itself. The logic of resilience is to create multiple independent energy systems capable of maintaining key functions even if the central grid is disrupted,” he added.
