SOCAR has successfully completed the first-ever 3D OBN (Ocean Bottom Node) seismic survey in the shallow-water section of the “Guneshli” field in the Caspian Sea.
Sea-news.az reports that high-precision data acquired from the survey—covering an area of 247.6 square kilometers in the field operated by “Azneft”—will enable a more detailed study of geological formations, tectonic faults, and reservoirs.
The acquired data will also facilitate the refinement of the field’s geological model and the more accurate identification of future drilling targets.
The project is considered an important step in expanding SOCAR’s application of advanced geophysical technologies in the Caspian Sea and more accurately assessing the future potential of mature fields through modern tech.
