The share of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in global gas trade is expected to reach 64 percent by 2055.

Sea-news.az reports citing foreign media, that this was stated by Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Yury Sentyurin / Mohamed Hamel / Filib Mshelbila.

He emphasized that LNG is strengthening the integration of natural gas markets across various regions: “LNG is the main driving force behind demand growth. According to projections, LNG will account for 64 percent of international natural gas trade by 2055.”

The Secretary General noted that global natural gas demand is projected to reach 5.2 trillion cubic meters annually by 2055. He stated that during that period, 86 percent of global natural gas production will be sourced from fields that have not yet been developed.

Filip Mshelbila also mentioned that the GECF plans to expand its membership: “Efforts are underway toward the expansion of the organization.”
