Russia is considering various proposals to ensure the safe transit of grain across the Black Sea and is continuing discussions on this matter with Türkiye and other nations. However, Moscow holds no expectations for the revival of the “grain deal.”
Sea-news.az reports citing an interview given to the “Interfax” news agency by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov.
According to him, Moscow is examining proposals received from various countries and maintains ongoing dialogue with interested parties regarding the safety of grain shipments.
He noted that the resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative is also under discussion at the United Nations. Nonetheless, the Russian side does not agree with the proposed options for bringing the agreement back into force.
A. Alimov emphasized that Moscow views the previous initiative as unsuccessful. In his view, the UN failed to guarantee the fulfillment of commitments regarding the export of Russian fertilizers and agricultural products.
“We see no possibility of restoring the ‘grain deal’ in any form,” the diplomat concluded.
