The 31st Baku Energy Week has officially begun with the opening of the Baku Energy Forum, one of the leading platforms for global energy dialogue.
On the first day of the forum, a ministerial session was held under the chairmanship of Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov on the topic: “International Cooperation for a Sustainable and Diversified Energy Future.”
In his address, the minister noted that the platform—shaped by the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and which strengthened the Caspian region’s position on the global energy map—has now entered a new strategic phase driven by green energy partnerships and Azerbaijan’s role as an investor.
He emphasized that recent geopolitical shifts and supply risks in global energy markets have further increased the importance of energy security, highlighting Azerbaijan’s growing role in this context.
The minister also stated that Azerbaijan connects the Caspian Sea with the Black, Mediterranean, and Adriatic seas through stable energy routes, acting both as a reliable energy supplier and as a key logistics and connectivity hub within the Middle Corridor.
At the same time, it was underlined that the energy transition does not reduce the importance of global energy security, noting that oil will continue to play a key role for a long time, particularly in transport, industry, and chemical sectors.
The speech also highlighted that projects such as the Azerbaijan–Türkiye Energy Hub and the Azerbaijan–Georgia–Türkiye–Bulgaria Green Energy Corridor are now entering active implementation stages.
