Interest in sailing and other water sports is steadily growing in Azerbaijan, supported by the development of modern infrastructure and the increasing popularity of regattas among wider audiences.

This was stated by Tatyana Srebnaya, Azerbaijans first female yacht captain, an international regatta participant, and sailing coach.

According to her, significant steps have been taken in recent years to develop water sports in the country, including the establishment of swimming pools, rowing centers, and yacht clubs. Srebnaya also highlighted the important role played by the Sea Breeze Marina yacht club in this process.

She noted that the marina has launched a sailing school for children aged 8–16, as well as diving, surfing, and kayaking centers. These facilities will be available to both children and adults.

Srebnaya emphasized that sailing is not only for professional athletes but also an engaging hobby and an active recreational activity suitable for people of all ages.

She added that interest in regattas among amateur participants has increased in recent years. Such competitions offer both the excitement of sport and a unique experience at sea.

Tatyana Srebnaya has represented Azerbaijan for many years in various international competitions held across the Caspian, Black, and Baltic Sea regions. She is currently involved in training young athletes and promoting the development of sailing in Azerbaijan.
