Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commented on the drone attack targeting a cargo vessel departing from Ukraines Port of Odesa.
In an official statement, the ministry said that two Turkish crew members were injured in the incident. It added that the condition of the injured sailors is being closely monitored by Turkish Consulate General in Odesa.
The ministry also expressed concern over the risks and threats posed to the region by the recent escalation of military tensions in the Black Sea.
“Our concerns regarding the risks and threats created by the recent war-related escalation in the Black Sea for our region, as well as its possible negative effects on our country, are being conveyed at all levels to all parties concerned,” the statement said.
Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry also called on all sides to avoid actions that could lead to an uncontrolled expansion of the conflict.
The statement emphasized the importance of ensuring the safe navigation of civilian vessels in the Black Sea and reaffirmed calls for resolving the conflict through negotiations.
The ministry added that Turkish is ready to contribute to regional and result-oriented initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and accelerating the peace process.
