A regatta held at the Sea Breeze Marina yacht club marked the opening of the summer season, featuring eight SB20 sailing boats competing in the race.
The winner of the competition, SB20 team captain Ruslan Azizov, said that the main characteristic of sailing is the struggle with natural elements and the high level of responsibility it demands.
According to him, every decision made by the skipper directly affects the team’s result, making the sport both challenging and highly engaging. “The key to success is discipline, composure, and continuous self-improvement,” he emphasized.
Azizov noted that his interest in sailing began in childhood and that he was introduced to the sport by his father. He added that the sea, wind, and sense of responsibility are his main sources of motivation in this discipline.
The athlete has been involved in sailing since 2013 and has participated in various national and international competitions. Prior to that, he was a member of Azerbaijan’s U-16 national canoeing and kayaking team.
