Kazakhstan Deputy Minister of Transport, Zhanibek Tayzhanov, has instructed representatives of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Company, Aktau International Sea Trade Port JSC, and the contractor China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. to accelerate dredging operations and ensure timely completion of the project.

A meeting dedicated to the implementation of dredging works in the Aktau port water area was held at the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Tayzhanov. Representatives of the involved organizations participated in the discussion.

It was noted that the project is expected to increase the capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and improve the efficiency of Kazakhstan maritime logistics.

Earlier reports indicated that declining water levels in the Caspian Sea have already begun to affect operations at the Aktau port.

The dredging project aims to deepen the seabed by 1.5–2 meters, creating conditions for further expansion of terminal capacity. The total cost of the project is estimated at 42.1 billion tenge.
