The Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy (ASMA) continues its efforts to promote modern innovations, environmentally friendly technologies, and scientific research in the maritime sector. A scientific seminar held on May 15, 2026 was dedicated to the application of alternative and renewable energy sources in shipping.
The event was attended by faculty members, doctoral candidates, and master’s students of the Academy, as well as representatives from Sumgayit State University, Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry, Azerbaijan Technical University, and the Institute of Energy.
During the seminar, Kanan Shahru d Huseynov, a doctoral researcher from the Department of Ship Electroautomation, delivered an extensive presentation titled “Opportunities for Improving the Efficiency of Ship Power Supply Systems Based on Renewable Energy Sources.”
In the context of global efforts to reduce environmental impact and dependence on conventional fuels in maritime transport, the topic attracted significant interest among participants.
Discussions focused on the use of renewable energy sources on ships (such as wind and solar power), improving the efficiency of shipboard electrical systems, and international best practices in this field.
The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion and a Q&A session.
