The international canoeing and rowing regatta “President’s Cup 2026”, dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth, will conclude today in Mingachevir.
On the final day of competitions, the remaining medal winners will be determined at the “Kur” Olympic Training and Sports Center.
On the previous day, Azerbaijani athletes achieved several successful results:
- Azər İlyasov won the gold medal in the 1500-meter single sculls rowing event (2008–2009 age category).
- Əlimurad Hacızadə earned the silver medal in the 500-meter single kayak event.
- The duo Mustafa Vəlizadə – Elmir Tarverdiyev secured the bronze medal in the 500-meter double kayak event (2010–2011 age category).
- The pair Niyaz Malikov – Ivan Vorobyanski also won the bronze medal in the 1000-meter double kayak event (2008–2009 age category).
Previously, Əlimurad Hacızadə had also won a silver medal in the 200-meter single kayak event.
The tournament is jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation. Athletes from over 15 countries, with more than 100 participants in total, are taking part in the competition.
