Position: Mechanical Assistant
Purpose
Plan and schedule projects, estimate time and materials, support workshop activities, maintain records and files and prepare reports.
Accountabilities
- Provide technical assistance for staff in workshop and warehouse
- Support and undertake installations, maintenance
- Examine mechanical services for proper working procedures
- Inspect mechanical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
- Conduct preservation of equipment and spare parts in accordance with company standards and schedules
- Maintain storage & preservation data base
- Employee may be requested to operate company vehicle, overhead cranes, and/or corporate forklifts for business purposes
Deliveries
- HSSE input including HSSE observation cards and participation in all MHWirth HSSE related strategies and initiatives
- Preservation reports and logs
- To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
Participation
- HSSEQ meetings and emergency drills
- Internal meetings, Tool-Box talk, JRA etc.
- Customer meetings as required
- Improvement of work processes
Authority
- Stop work / products not delivered in accordance with MHWirth quality standards
- Stop any unsafe work or acts
Key Interfaces
- Workshop Manager, Overhaul Manager
Competence Requirements
- Basic English skills both written and verbal
- Knowledge of Mechanics/Hydraulics
- Practical experience in Mechanics/Hydraulics
- Basic practical and theoretical knowledge of Electricity
- Good computer skills
- Comfortable with working at heights
- High focus on HSSE
- Two (2) Years’ relevant experience
- Competent with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
- Ability to take initiative and be accountable for own decisions and actions
- Ability to focus on and bring to conclusion to multiple tasks
- Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative
- Ability to pre-empt situations and react positively
- Organized and methodical, high integrity and ethical values
- Experience of working in and supporting relevant workshop environments including the practical use of workshop equipment
- Competence in the use and support of relevant equipment and facilities associated with workshops
- Understanding of HSSE procedures with respect to the work environment
- Demonstrable IT literacy and knowledge/experience of relevant software and support
