Organized by the Baku International Sea Trade Port under CJSC “Azerbaijan Railways” (ADY), a meeting was held within the framework of the CICA (Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia) Port Heads Conference, bringing together leadership teams from the ports of Aktau, Kuryk, Turkmenbashi, Poti, and Batumi.

Sea-news.az reports that the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation toward transforming the Caspian and Black Sea basins into a more efficient, reliable, and competitive transport and logistics hub.

During the discussions, participants reviewed the growing strategic importance of the Middle Corridor, enhanced coordination among regional ports, the faster and more predictable organization of cargo flows, and opportunities for joint collaboration.

It was noted that, according to preliminary figures for the first eight months of 2026, cargo turnover between the Port of Baku and Turkmen ports increased by 34.6 percent compared to the same period last year, while turnover with Kazakh ports grew by 6 percent.

The meeting also featured an exchange of views on jointly addressing challenges faced by ports and fostering regional cooperation on a more institutional and sustainable basis.
