The Port of Baku holds immense development potential as the premier gateway and maritime terminal opening to Europe on the western shore of the Caspian Sea.

Sea-news.az reports that Jiang Wei, Vice President of External Relations at China’s Lianyungang Port, made this statement during a press briefing.

He noted that close cooperative ties between Lianyungang and Baku have been actively forged since mid-2018. “In 2024, we signed a framework agreement on Trans-Caspian transport, and in 2025 we held detailed negotiations to further deepen our partnership,” he stated.

“We attach great significance to our ongoing cooperation with Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) and the Port of Baku. Today, I met with ADY Chairman Rovshan Rustamov, and we discussed relevant issues in thorough detail,” Jiang Wei added.
