President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev have officially inaugurated the Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable Line in an online ceremony following their bilateral meeting.
The heads of state were informed that the project, implemented under the “Digital Silk Way” initiative, opens new avenues for digital connectivity between Asia and Europe.
The subsea cable line stretching approximately 380 kilometers across the Caspian Sea bed between Sumgayit and Aktau possesses a data transmission capacity exceeding 400 terabits per second. The commissioning of this line significantly enhances the strategic value of the Middle Corridor in both transport and digital domains, enabling data routing from China and Central Asia through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia onward to Europe via the Black Sea or Turkey.
