UK Threatens Complete Visa Ban for Eritrean Citizens Over Migrant Returns

The British government may impose a comprehensive visa ban on all Eritrean citizens unless the East African nation agrees to accept the return of its illegal migrants and convicted criminals.

Sea-news.az reports citing the BBC, UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood warned that Asmara continues to refuse cooperation in repatriating nationals who crossed the English Channel on small boats and have no legal right to remain in Britain.

In response, the UK has restricted the movement of Eritrean diplomats outside London and suspended expedited visa processing for senior officials. Mahmood emphasized that if the Eritrean government fails to fulfill its obligations to take back its citizens, the UK will move forward with a complete prohibition on entry for Eritrean nationals.
