The People of Azerbaijan Respectfully Commemorate the Heroes of the Patriotic War

95

Today marks six years since the outbreak of the Patriotic War.

Sea-news.az reports that Remembrance Day is being observed in Azerbaijan on this occasion.

Six years ago, on September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani Army launched a counter-offensive operation in response to Armenia’s aggressive policy and military provocations along the frontline. By order of the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army began the struggle for the liberation of our lands.

As a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, the Azerbaijani Army liberated a significant portion of the territories that had remained under occupation for nearly 30 years. The war went down in history as a prominent example of unity among the people, the army, and the state.

Azerbaijan lost 2,908 martyrs in the 44-day war, while 6 servicemen went missing.

President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on December 2, 2020, establishing Remembrance Day in Azerbaijan.
