The intensity of commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz remains approximately 75 percent lower compared to the level prior to the conflict between the United States and Iran.
Sea-news.az informs that the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) released information regarding the matter.
According to the agency, oil tankers account for the majority of vessels passing through the strait. Since July 26, out of 43 shelling-related incidents reported to UKMTO, 26 were recorded on the southern route near the coast of Oman.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Strait of Hormuz Control Authority (PGSA) warned that vessels navigating unauthorized routes in the strait’s waters will face severe restrictions.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that he rejected Iran’s plan regarding the restoration of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. US Permanent Representative to the UN Mike Waltz explained this decision by a lack of trust in the Iranian side.
