The second day of competition at the open Azerbaijani sailing championship has successfully wrapped up.
Sea-news.az reports that athletes from both Azerbaijan and Turkey continued their fierce competition across the Optimist and ILCA4 boat classes at the specialized sailing center located in the Shikhov beach area.
Throughout the second day, participants navigated a series of technical races along designated maritime routes, adapting dynamically to shifting wind speeds and directions. Each race was scored independently, with cumulative points determining the competitors’ advancing positions in the overall standings.
The final races take place today, after which overall standings will factor in performance across all competition days to crown the official class champions.
The official award ceremony is scheduled for today, September 14, at 16:00, where winners will receive diplomas and medals. Additionally, all participating athletes will be presented with commemorative certificates by the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation.
The championship features strong international participation, notably including a 10-member delegation of sailors representing Turkey alongside local Azerbaijani athletes.
