The Surakhani ship-museum, operated by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC (ASCO), hosted a unique educational excursion for schoolchildren ahead of the September 15 Knowledge Day.
Sea-news.az reports that what set this tour apart was its special guide: Selin Huseynova, a first-grade student at the Baku European Lyceum who is stepping into school life for the very first time. Young Selin led her peers through the museum, sharing fascinating insights into Azerbaijan’s rich maritime history, enduring seafaring traditions, and the complex engineering process behind converting the historic Surakhani vessel into an interactive floating museum.
During the visit, the children engaged directly with the museum’s cutting-edge interactive exhibits. Using specialized gaming manipulators and simulation tools, the students tested out various navigational and shipping operations, gaining hands-on practical experience.
Organized as part of ASCO’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, these continuous educational excursions are designed to deepen children’s connection to national maritime heritage, spark early interest in seafaring careers, and broaden their overall worldview.
