Winners of the Azerbaijan Carp Fishing Championship determined in Shamakhi

The winners of the Azerbaijan Carp Fishing Championship, organized by the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation, have officially been announced.

Sea-news.az reports that the national championship took place at Lake Chuxuryurd, located in the village of the same name in the Shamakhi region. The three-day tournament was jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation (AWSF), and the Baku Fishermen and Spearfishermen Club, with competing teams striving for victory under strict regulatory guidelines.

Following three days of intense competition, the “Karp Pro” team representing the Baku Fishermen and Spearfishermen Club—comprising Azer Aliyev, Nihad Jamalov, and Huseyn Gheibi—secured the title of Azerbaijani Champions.

The “Karabakh” team from the “Delfinq Fishing Club,” consisting of Sahil Agamaliyev, Isa Aliyev, and Elmir Safiyev, claimed second place, while the “AzKarp” team from the Azerbaijan Carp Fishing Club—featuring Ahmad Mammadov, Faig Shirinbayli, and Ali Mammadov—rounded out the podium in third place.

The winning teams were awarded diplomas, medals, and trophies. Additionally, a special trophy was presented to the “Karp Pro” team for catching the largest fish of the tournament.

Carp fishing is a specialized sport centered on capturing carp through dedicated technical methods, where participant preparedness, tactical execution, and patience play critical roles. Emphasizing catch-and-release conservation principles, all caught fish were evaluated by judges and safely returned to the water unharmed.
