A fire broke out in the engine of a migrant boat traveling through the English Channel from France towards Great Britain.
Sea-news.az reports citing the BBC and an official statement from the Prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea of France, that the incident occurred on the morning of August 4 when the engine compartment of the moving boat suddenly caught fire.
Immediately after receiving a distress signal regarding the incident, the cutters of the French Maritime Rescue Service were deployed to the area. As a result of the maritime rescue operation, 157 people on board the boat with the burning engine were safely evacuated and delivered to the sea port of Boulogne-sur-Mer in France.
Thanks to the prompt intervention at sea, there were no injuries or drownings. Initial medical and social assistance was provided to the migrants brought to the port, and maritime police launched an investigation into the incident.
