Located in the area where the Kura River flows into the Caspian Sea, the Neftchala Lighthouse remains one of the region’s most striking historical sites and interesting destinations for tourists.
According to sea-news.az citing Photostock.az, that the rapid development of the fishing industry in Neftchala in the early 20th century brought the issue of the safety of fishermen heading out to sea to the forefront. To meet this need, this magnificent lighthouse with a height of 56 meters was built in 1965.
For many years, the structure served not only as an important navigation point ensuring the safe movement of fishermen, but also of ships operating in the Kura River and Caspian Sea basin.
Although it has lost its former navigational function today due to technological progress, the Neftchala Lighthouse retains its value as an important historical and symbolic monument preserving the region’s rich past.
