July 21 marks the 79th anniversary of the birth of Naghi Mir Jalal oglu Seyidov, an experienced ship engineer who dedicated many years to the development of Azerbaijani navigation.
According to sea-news.az that Naghi Seyidov was born on July 21, 1947, in the village of Boyuk Duz, Babek district, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. His interest in navigation led him to the ship power plants department of the Baku Maritime School in 1962. He graduated from this school in 1967, and later studied at the Odessa Higher Marine Engineering School (now the Odessa National Maritime University) to enhance his knowledge and professional training. In 1982, he qualified as an engineer-ship mechanic specializing in the operation of ship power plants.
Starting his career at the Caspian Shipping Company in 1967, Naghi Seyidov worked for many years as a 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and chief engineer on transport fleet vessels. Thanks to his professionalism, high responsibility, and experience, he was subsequently promoted to various engineering-technical and managerial positions within the Shipping Company.
Appointed as a consulting engineer in 1994, Naghi Seyidov served as the deputy head of the Technical Operation Service of the Caspian Sea Fleet in 1997, and as the head of this service in 2001. In subsequent years, he again served as a consulting engineer, and starting from 2003, he temporarily acted as the chief engineer at the “Caspian Ship Repair” Production Association.
Working as a chief engineer on the Hayat ship of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company from 2005 to 2017, Naghi Seyidov shared his rich knowledge and experience with young sailors, contributing to their professional development.
For his efficient and flawless activity, he was awarded the honorary title of “Best Chief Engineer” in 1987. In 1998, he was awarded the title and badge of “Honored Worker of the Caspian Sea Fleet.”
Naghi Seyidov passed away on May 17, 2026.
Naghi Seyidov left a deep mark in the memory of his colleagues and those who knew him with his professionalism, diligence, and high human qualities. His contributions to the development of our navigation are remembered with respect today.
