Loading of Kazakh oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal has been temporarily suspended following a drone (UAV) attack on two tankers.
According to sea-news.az that the ASIA and NISSOS IOS tankers, which transport oil produced in Kazakhstan, were attacked during loading operations on July 19.
The attack resulted in fires on board the vessels. Thanks to the prompt intervention of the crews, the flames were extinguished in a short time. There were no injuries during the incident, and no oil spills were reported.
According to the Ministry, the terminals floating loading units—VPU-1 and VPU-3—were not damaged. However, loading operations have been suspended until the consequences of the incident are fully assessed.
The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan has termed the attacks on civilian objects belonging to critical energy infrastructure as unacceptable.
It was noted that the use of force against international energy infrastructure poses a serious threat to global energy security, disrupts the international supply chain of energy resources, and harms the economic interests of the project participants.
