Two tankers carrying Kazakh oil have been attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s offshore terminal.
According to sea-news.az that oil loading operations have been suspended, and there are no casualties.
According to the consortium, the targets of the attack were the Liberia-flagged tanker ASIA and the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker NISSOS IOS.
The vessels were carrying international crews. The attack resulted in a fire on the ASIA tanker, which was successfully extinguished due to the intervention of emergency and rescue forces.
There has been no oil spill, and both tankers have maintained their buoyancy. Experts are currently assessing the damage.
The consortium has characterized the incident as a deliberate terrorist attack, stating that this is the fifth instance of direct aggression against the consortium’s civilian infrastructure.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium transports oil from the Tengiz, Kashagan, and Karachaganak fields. It should be recalled that on July 17, the oil tanker Nordic Zenith was also struck by UAVs. There was no oil on board the ship at the time of that attack.
