The latest escalation in the U.S.–Iran conflict began on July 8. For the first time since the signing of a memorandum between Washington and Tehran, the U.S. Armed Forces launched a series of strikes on Iranian territory. The U.S. explained this as a response to an attack on a merchant vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
On the same day, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire with Iran had been suspended. As part of retaliatory measures, Tehran has begun launching strikes on U.S. facilities located in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman.
