Seven people have died and one person is missing following an explosion on a rubber boat in the waters near Mopanshan Island, in Chinas northeastern Liaoning province.
According to sea-news.az citing the Xinhua agency, that local authorities have released information regarding the incident.
There were a total of 13 people on the boat. Five injured individuals, two of whom are in critical condition, have been hospitalized for treatment.
According to preliminary investigations, the passengers were local residents who had gone to collect mollusks during low tide. While returning, a sudden explosion occurred when the boatman attempted to start the engine, following a suspected leak of engine fuel.
Additional investigative measures are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident.
