As the State Maritime and Port Agency, we are deeply saddened by the news we have received in recent months regarding the deaths of Azerbaijani seafarers working on ships sailing under the flags of various states in foreign waters.

We pray for Gods mercy upon our deceased seafarers and extend our deepest condolences to their families and loved ones.

Considering that security risks are high, particularly in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov basins, as well as in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, we urge Azerbaijani seafarers to prioritize their lives and health above all else.

We recommend that they carefully evaluate the existing risks before agreeing to trips to war zones or areas where active military operations are conducted, take into account the warnings and instructions of official bodies regarding safety, and refrain from such trips whenever possible.

At the same time, we call on shipping companies and relevant entities to prioritize the lives and safety of seafarers, to take all security measures when sending them to regions with a high risk of war, and to avoid using such routes whenever possible.

We urge all our seafarers to be cautious, to consider the safety of themselves and their families, and to stay away from war zones.
