According to sea-news.az that the final meeting of the Scientific Council of the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy (ASMA) for the 2025/2026 academic year was held on July 10, 2026.
Regarding the first item on the agenda, the report by A. Suleymanov, Head of the Organization of the Educational Process Department, on the Academy’s preparations for the new academic year was heard. Within this framework, instructions were given regarding the alignment of course curricula with international standards, the regulation of tuition fees, the renovation of the dormitory, and the transition to a fully electronic system, eliminating paper-based journals.
As the next item, the reports by faculty deans R. Asgarov and E. Abbasov on the results of the spring semester examination session were analyzed. Based on the session outcomes, it was decided to conduct a thorough investigation of academic results, strengthen tutor support for students, and explore the possibilities of applying hybrid and distance learning elements within the legal framework for working master’s students.
During the subsequent discussions, the report by Scientific Secretary A. Imanova on the activities of the Scientific Council for the 2025/2026 academic year was heard and deemed satisfactory. Within the framework of organizational issues, it was planned to appeal to the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) to include the new chairman of the Student Youth Organization in the composition of the Council and to carry out appropriate work for the election of a new Council, as the term of the current one expires at the end of the year.
Following this, the information provided by N. Huseynov, Head of the Scientific Research and International Relations Department, regarding the attestation results of doctoral students studying under the PhD program was discussed. Based on the assessment, the protocol of the Attestation Commission regarding the successful attestation of 10 doctoral students studying in three different specialties was officially approved.
In conclusion, the “Rules for Management, Administration, and Determination and Allocation of Teaching Loads for Academic Staff at the Academy,” presented by I. Suleymanova, Vice-Rector for Organization and Management of Education, were discussed extensively. It was decided that after making the relevant structural and content improvements, and obtaining approval from the relevant structural units, the normative document will be officially approved and implemented starting from the new academic year.
