Inspections related to control in the fisheries sector are being included in the category of exceptions to the moratorium on inspections.
According to sea-news.az that this issue is reflected in the draft amendments to the laws “On the suspension of inspections in the field of entrepreneurship” and “On environmental impact assessment,” which were discussed at today’s meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy, and Ecology.
While the current version provides for control over the safety of food and feed products as an exception, fishing activities—which constitute the initial stage of this control—are not directly covered.
The proposed addition eliminates this regulatory gap in the food safety system and creates a legal basis for implementing control based on the “from production to consumption” principle.
It is noted that since violations in the fisheries sector (illegal fishing, quota violations) occur within a short period and their consequences expand rapidly, ensuring the ability to conduct agile control in this area is essential for protecting ecological balance, biodiversity, and ensuring the supply of quality food products to the population.
