The draft amendment to the Law “On Customs Tariff” was adopted in the first reading at todays session of the Milli Majlis.
According to sea-news.az under the new amendment, goods produced or processed by companies operating in the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ) will be exempt from customs duties under certain conditions.
The main requirement is that at least 50 percent of the goods produced must be exported abroad. If this condition is met, importing these goods from the free zone into the country (the main economy) will be exempt from customs duties for a period of 15 years from the date the company was established.
If the law is fully adopted, it will come into effect on January 1, 2027.
