“Smart Ship Hub,” a developer of maritime digital solutions, has introduced a new marine data logger costing just 600 USD, aimed at significantly reducing the high digitalization costs in the maritime industry.
According to sea-news.az this system, named “Onboard Gateway,” is intended as an accessible solution for shipowners and operators who face difficulties in digital transformation due to high hardware costs.
Extensive Integration and Edge Analytics Capabilities
This small-scale device is capable of collecting high-frequency operational data from almost all critical machinery and systems onboard:
- Main engine and diesel generators;
- Main operating panel (MOP) and boilers;
- Flowmeters and shaft power meters;
- Navigation and cargo management systems.
The device does not merely collect data; it is also equipped with edge analytics technology. This feature enables onboard data processing, allowing for the instant analysis of fuel consumption, hull condition, engine performance, and cargo indicators.
Administrative Burden on the Crew Is Eased
According to the company, in addition to bringing economic savings to shipowners, this technology will drastically reduce the time spent by the crew on manual reporting.
Particularly due to the automation of daily reports (noon reporting), which are a standard in maritime shipping and compiled every day at noon, the human labor spent on reporting tasks will decrease by approximately 70%. This, in turn, will help the ship’s crew focus their attention entirely on navigation and safety operations.
