Crew members of cargo vessels that came under a drone attack in the Azov Sea on the night of June 5 have shared details of the incident.

According to sea-news.az one of the witnesses, sailor Rashid Rashidov, told Azerbaijani Television that the crew was awakened during the first strike and immediately moved toward the control section of the ship. He said additional drone strikes followed shortly after.

“When the attacks began, we went down to the lower decks. We could hear the sound of drones, followed by explosions,” he said.

Another crew member, engineer Nijat Sarali, stated that in the initial moments they did not understand what was happening. He noted that the vessel was struck several times: “After the attacks, we located our fallen colleagues, but at that moment it was not possible to recover them, so we waited for a safer situation.”

It should be noted that during the drone strikes on two cargo vessels in the Azov Sea on June 5, four Azerbaijani citizens were killed and four others were injured. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
